Isle of Wight Open Studios

I don’t have any of my own work to show you at the moment, but I thought I would share some highlights of the last two weekends of Open Studios. Last weekend on West Wight I came across Alison Peters whose machine embroidery work is beautiful. Does her name sound familiar? She was the Stitch/Madeira overall prize winner on the theme Glimpses of Scotland. (Stitch June/July 2015). I purchased a tea cosy and keyring. In the same venue was Su Douglas thread and fibre artist, Tracy O’Brien with some colourful crochet and knitting and Gillian Chapman with her hand-felted designs. Today on East Wight I was really taken with the work of Carol Ann Eades who dyes her own materials with indigo and rust. She transforms some into stitched landscapes and also makes cushions and scarves. Lucky mum will be getting one for her birthday! At the same venue was Eva Fraser Harris whose stitched felt was also beautiful. I wish I had endless pots of money! I have to stop spending now as I also purchased a beautiful raku bowl from fellow TRAC member Rachel Andrews too.
